Liivo Night Shift Mode
Night Shift Mode keeps your app self-maintaining. While you sleep, an AI agent runs a Weekly Health Check on your app, picks up feature requests you write in plain English, and takes care of routine tasks without you having to open a terminal or write a line of code.
What is Night Shift Mode?
When you enable Night Shift Mode, Liivo connects an AI agent to your running app. The agent monitors your app on a schedule, reads the feature ideas you leave for it, and works through them one by one.
Your app improves over time without any ongoing effort from you.
How to enable Night Shift Mode
- Open Liivo and go to Your Apps.
- Find the app you want and open its settings panel.
- Under Night Shift, click Enable Night Shift Mode.
- A setup wizard opens. Follow the steps to connect your AI Helper Key.
- Once connected, Night Shift Mode is active. The first Weekly Health Check runs within 24 hours.
You will receive a Health Report by email after each check.
What is an AI Helper Key? Why do I need one?
Night Shift Mode uses an AI agent to do its work. The agent needs a way to authenticate with an AI model. That credential is called an AI Helper Key in Liivo.
There are three ways to provide it, with different billing implications:
Option 1: Use your existing Claude subscription (no extra cost)
If you already pay for Claude (any paid plan), you can authorise Night Shift Mode to use that subscription directly. You paste the token Liivo shows you in the wizard into the field labelled Anthropic OAuth token. The agent's usage draws from your existing Claude plan. There is no separate charge.
This is the right choice for most Claude subscribers. If you pay for Claude already, start here.
Option 2: Anthropic API key (separate bill)
You can provide an Anthropic API key (starts with sk-ant-). Usage is billed directly by Anthropic at API rates, which are separate from any Claude subscription you may have.
Important: a paid Claude subscription does not include API access. If you have a Claude subscription and also provide an Anthropic API key, you are paying twice for AI: once for the subscription and once for the API. Use Option 1 instead if you have a Claude plan.
API keys suit users who want fine-grained cost control or who do not have a Claude subscription.
Option 3: OpenAI API key
If you prefer to use OpenAI models, you can provide an OpenAI API key. OpenAI API usage is billed directly by OpenAI and is separate from any ChatGPT Plus subscription. There is no subscription path for OpenAI API access.
How does the Weekly Health Check work? When does it run?
Once Night Shift Mode is enabled, the agent runs a Weekly Health Check on your app. The check looks at how your app is running, flags anything that needs attention, and prepares a Health Report.
The check runs in the background, typically once per week. The exact time is managed by Liivo. You do not need to schedule it or keep your computer on.
After each check, Liivo sends you a Health Report by email. You can also view the latest report from your app's Night Shift settings panel.
How to read a Health Report
A Health Report summarises what the agent found during the Weekly Health Check. It is written in plain English and contains:
- Status:** whether your app is running normally, needs attention, or has issues the agent resolved automatically.
- Actions taken:** any changes the agent made during the check.
- Pending items:** feature requests or issues the agent noticed but did not act on automatically. Review these and decide whether to accept them.
- Next steps:** what the agent recommends you do, if anything.
If the report lists items under Pending, you can approve them from your app's settings panel. The agent picks them up on the next run.
How to request a new feature in plain English
You do not need to write code or follow any technical format.
- Go to your app's Night Shift settings panel.
- Find the Feature Requests section.
- Click Add request and type what you want in plain language.
Examples of good requests:
- "Add a button on the homepage that lets users download their data as a CSV file."
- "Send me an email when a new user signs up."
- "Change the colour of the header to match the logo."
The agent reads your request during the next Weekly Health Check and works through it if it can be done automatically. Complex requests may need more than one check cycle.
How to turn off Night Shift Mode
- Open Liivo and go to Your Apps.
- Find the app and open its settings panel.
- Under Night Shift, click Disable Night Shift Mode.
- Confirm when prompted.
Your app continues running normally. The AI agent stops working on it, and no further Health Checks are scheduled. Any feature requests you wrote are saved and will be there if you re-enable Night Shift Mode later.
To remove your AI Helper Key entirely, go to the Night Shift settings panel after disabling and click Remove AI Helper Key.
