Getting Started
Really Simple Message Queue (rest-rsmq) exposes the RSMQ message queue over a REST API. RSMQ stores queues in Redis, so any HTTP client can send and receive messages. Available as an open web service in Eyevinn Open Source Cloud.
Prerequisites
- If you have not already done so, sign up for an Eyevinn OSC account
Step 1: Create a Valkey (Redis) instance
Queues are stored in Redis. Navigate to the Valkey service and create an instance. Note the IP and port. The URL has the form redis://<IP>:<PORT>. Only host and port are used, so no password or database number is applied.
Step 2: Store the URL as a secret
Go to the tab "Service Secrets" on the Really Simple Message Queue page and create a secret, for example redisurl, with the Redis URL.
Step 3: Create the instance
Go to the tab "My rest-rsmqs" and click "Create rest-rsmq". Set name and RedisUrl to {{secrets.redisurl}}. Open the instance URL once the status is green and "running". The service has no web login. See the upstream documentation for the available REST endpoints.
CLI usage
osc create smrchy-rest-rsmq myqueue -o RedisUrl="{{secrets.redisurl}}"
